A cornerstone of the PALS Program is its Supplemental Bar Tutorial, which has assisted law graduates of color for over 25 years. The Supplemental Bar Tutorial is offered at no cost to PALS law school graduates who are preparing for the February and July New York State Bar exams. This program ensures that students are prepared and confident when taking the bar exam. Well over 100 PALS graduates of color participate every year, and many attribute their success at passing the New York State Bar Exam to the support and skills they gained from the PALS program. The aim of the tutorial is to assist in teaching its participants to identify common bar exam fact patterns used to test major rules of law, and how to avoid commonly made errors in reading, analyzing, and writing bar exam answers. The program consists of four three-hour sessions where various issues, such as time management and work-life balance, are also addressed.
The official PALS Supplemental Bar Tutorial Program sponsor is Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
