What is the purpose of the PALS Young Leadership Board?
The Young Leadership Board is designed to provide exceptional candidates an opportunity to serve PALS in a meaningful role, develop their leadership skills and increase their civic involvement. The PALS Young Leadership Board will serve as a diversity pipeline of trained leaders with the preparation, expertise and demonstrated commitment to serve on nonprofit boards. The Young Leadership Board will be engaged in the board development process, assist in the planning of PALS' strategic development and support the programming, fundraising, mentoring, branding and advocacy efforts of PALS. All Young Leadership Board members will be required to participate in an orientation and an ongoing board training program. Young Leadership Board members will benefit significantly through their participation, including professional development, skills training and social networking.

What is the term?
Members of the Young Leadership Board commit to a two-year membership term (renewed annually based on participation).
The role of the PALS Young Leadership Board Members:
Members of The PALS Young Leadership Board will work collaboratively with members of the PALS Board of Directors and the PALS Executive Director to assist PALS in carrying out its mission. Members of the Young Leadership Board will have the following responsibilities:
• Participate in regularly scheduled Young Leadership Board meetings, and serve on at least one committee (Fundraising, Programming, or Mentoring) where they can apply their unique skills, perspective and experience.
• Participate in PALS major events and fundraisers and encourage the support and participation of people in their networks (goal is for each member to "bring" at least one colleague/attorney to each major event).
• Be an active PALS Mentor to a new student mentee during each year of their service.
• Contribute to PALS financially by "giving" or "getting" $500 per year. Personal pledges, contributions solicited from other individuals or companies and in-kind donations are all credited to the individual Young Leadership Board Member. The PALS Board of Directors and its Executive Director will assist members with developing creative fundraising opportunities.
